Flying fox is set for August take-off
The popular flying fox at Kowhai Park is expected to be ready for action again in August. Whanganui District Council chief executive, Kym Fell, says the date of the opening will depend on the weather since the ground around the structure needs to dry out. “The new structure will look a lot more impressive,” Kym Fell says. “The launch ramp is higher and longer, but the ride will be similar to the previous flying fox. The new flying fox is also designed to be safer.” Installation of the new structure is currently underway, with council contractors carrying out the work. The previous flying fox was taken down in October 2020 because of safety concerns.
